Adventure Time: Battle Party is a Mulitiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game featuring characters from the hit TV series Adventure Time. Players select a character from the series to enter the arena, and along with their team, battled against another team of players to take each other’s territory.

In the end, a small team shipped a MOBA in about a year, an extremely tight deadline for so complex a game. The game was well-received by those who tried it, getting attention and praise from professional MOBA players and garnering a loyal fanbase on reddit. More than once our servers were knocked out by massive player traffic. AT:BP sadly had to be shuttered 3 years ago due to a server migration, but many current games use design concepts we pioneered.

For AT:BP, we had to balance the complex UX of the MOBA game genre with the unique needs of our younger audience.
My primary goal with this design was streamlining features while still retaining the deep choices indicative of a MOBA. We also wanted to shield our young players from the genre's infamous toxicity.

PRO PLAYERS ON AT:BP
WARNING: Adult language
As big MOBA fans first, the AT:BP team was ecstatic when a few professional League of Legends player, including ADC imaqtpie (1.65m YouTube subscribers) and top-laner HotshotGG(215k twitch followers) began streaming our game. Check out imaqtpie playing the game for the first time.
Sadly, in June 2017 the game had to be shut down for logistical reasons. We had many die-hard fans who were sad to see it go, and even now, 3 years later, they still post on the AT:BP reddit hoping for a way to play the game again.
